I have created this site as part of my learning of "bleeding edge" technology... The technology is great, but...
I continue to use it as a hobby. My artistic productions are also part of recreational activities.
I believe, that the international benchmark in assessing skills level of professionals using Microsoft technologies - Microsoft exams - is excellent invention. I've got my MCDBA credentials already. The next frontier, probably, will be MCSD...?
The Doodle Story
Doodling ! What is it? Many people do this, especially in brain intensive industries. There are two types of doodling known so far. Passive Doodling is a spontaneous, quiet protest of creative personality against intellectual wanking it is forced to perform to make a living. Active Doodling is an intuitive, sublime search of a spirit for means of expression in material world.
The Passive Doodling is most common among egghead white colour workers during time of boredom on a job. In the IT industry intellectual wanking is a common feature of life. Look at the following exerts from the manual for future IT managers:
"In the new thinking, success is defined not as ending up where you want to be but as wanting to be where you end up. Success lies in having what it takes to improvise successfully to achieve a desirable outcome. Thus, the new thinking makes a clear break with the past, and the implication for practice are enormous".
I was passively doodling for the past 20+ years or so. One day I've looked at my doodle collection and thought: what if I magnify them, make them huge ? I have some drawing background (I was educated as an architect in 1975 back in ex Soviet Union), so I took some heavy white paper and after few weekends my first magnified doodle was finished. Today in my possession a substantial collection of magnified doodles, and I even made a number of exhibitions in respectable places. I could not sell originals because... my pricing is based on my hourly rate as Computer Consultant (Microsoft SQL Server 2000 DBA (MCDBA), Windows 2000/2003, ASP.Net (visit us at http://www.gsscon.com), IBM, CICS, COBOL, DB2, MVS etc...). Many people told me that if the price was right they would buy my doodles.
Here we go. Today my doodling grew from the passive to active one. How to make low price doodles ? Power Macintosh, PhotoShop, drum scanning, high resolution large format printer, HTML editors and Internet software, plus hours and hours of learning. All this to produce low price prints available to anyone in the world who might like them.
Once a curator from Christies auctions in Melbourne saw my works. She actually liked them but couldn't classify... What a good idea ! Unclassifieds ! Unclassified Art of Doodling. That's it
My another hobby is doodling with copper. It is actually very hard to manipulate 1 mm thick copper sheet. Someone who ever tried embossing will appreciate up to 10 cm deep (and more in some cases) sculptural relief...
I think, I took my doodling to a completely different level of expression. With your support I hope to allocate more time to continue my Doodle productions.
My active doodling became a reality only because of encouragement by my beautiful wife Ella and our two wonderful kids.
Enjoy your visit and thank you for your support
